Export to Pocket PC Xtra:

The Export to Pocket PC Xtra for Macromedia^® Director^® allows Director^® movies to be converted into applications that can be run on a PocketPC handheld computer. It consists of several parts:

• A Lingo™ Xtra and associated helper Xtra used during authoring to analyze a source movie and convert scripts and media into a form useable on the PocketPC.
• A modern optimized animation engine written specifically for the PocketPC that emulates a core set of Director^® features.

The steps for converting a Director^® movie to run on the PocketPC are:

• Within the Director^® authoring environment, the user exports his movie using the Xtra which generates a new media file (similar to a DCR) and a C++ file which contains automatic translations of all the user's Lingo scripts.
• In a very simple process, the user compiles the C++ file and media file into a final application using a free downloadable compiler from Micrsoft.
• This self-contained application can then be installed directly to a PocketPC device as a single executable, with no need for additional players or slow interpreters.

Sharp Image Export Xtra:

This Xtra allows saving of bitmap castmembers as JPEG, PNG and BMP/PICT files. BMP files are only supported on the Windows platform and PICT files are only supported on Macintosh. This Xtra was developed by Sharp Software with the help of Foster Langbein at Forest Interactive. This Xtra is not Shockwave safe and is compatible with Director 7 upwards.
